Alabama’s A’Shawn Robinson to miss a week due to sprained knee
Alabama sophomore defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson suffered a knee injury on Sunday, but Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban revealed on Thursday evening that it is only a sprain and is listed as day-to-day.

“It’s not surgical,” Saban said. “It’s probably going to take a few days before we get him back out there, maybe a week or so.”
Robinson was a marquee member of the 2013 class that finished as the nation’s No. 1 class and appeared in every game as a true freshman, including making two starts. He is a guy who can go down as an all-time great and one of the best to ever play for Saban if he can stay healthy for the next two years, before assuming he declares for the NFL Draft.
The 6-4, 320-pound lineman had 38 tackles, eight tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. The former Texas commit was a coup for Saban last season and was named by the media at SEC Media Days in July as a first-team All-SEC selection, so you can expect Alabama to play it safe with the immensely talented Robinson.
“We’re going to be pretty cautious with this kind of thing, especially with his position because it’s not easy to function as an inside player if you have a sprained knee,” Saban said.
Saban also announced that senior nose guard Brandon Ivory and junior end Jarran Reed were reinstated to the team after serving a suspension for the first week of training camp for violation of team rules and policies. Reed was arrested on driving under the influence charges in July.
Ivory is one of five returning starters on defense and Reed is expected to start opposite Robinson on the defensive line after transferring from junior college.
The good news is that all three should be ready and in game shape when the Tide open the season against West Virginia at the end of the month.
