Weber is a four-star recruit in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and the nation’s No. 14 running back recruit. He is the No. 115 recruit overall regardless of position and the No. 2 recruit in the state of Michigan per the Composite Rankings.
He picked the Wolverines over Ohio State, Michigan State and USC in part because he wants to stay close to home and wants to bring back the pedigree of Michigan backs being drafted into the NFL.
"“I want to be home, I just want to come home, 35 minutes away,” Weber tells 247Sports. “That’s the main reason why. The depth chart is kind of low at running back and they haven’t had a running back drafted in a long time and I want to turn things around for Michigan.”"
The 5-10, 205-pound running back has a nice combination of speed and power that makes him a complete back that could contribute early in his Michigan career.
Weber is coming off a 1,659 yard season with 24 touchdowns as a junior and ran for 1,700 yards and 21 touchdowns two years ago as a sophomore when he helped lead Cass Technical to the state title.
With Wednesday’s addition of Weber, Michigan now owns the nation’s No. 19 class and the No. 3 class in the Big Ten, trailing Penn State and Ohio State.
