It doesn’t matter the sport, when you’re selected with the first overall pick in a draft your jersey becomes an instant hot seller. The case was no different when the Cleveland Cavaliers selected Andrew Wiggins first overall this past June.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

Fans rushed to the NBA Store in New York City and online to purchase Andrew Wiggins’ Cavaliers jersey before they sold out. And sell out they did, though unlike most number one picks, Andrew Wiggins’ stay in his new city wasn’t going to last long.

Just days after the former Kansas star was drafted, rumors began to swirl that he could be traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Kevin Love. That deal was allegedly agreed upon today (though can’t become official until August 23rd) and understandably there are a lot of frustrated Cavaliers fans stuck with now defunct Andrew Wiggins jerseys.

Fear not though, friends because if you were one of the many who purchased the now sold out jersey, the NBA Store is willing to refund your purchase.

It’s actually a pretty cool gesture by the NBA though I’m guessing a lot of people actually tore their tags off, so that’s rather unfortunate. While it’s certainly the correct thing to do, the league could have simply capitalized off people buying Kevin Love’s Cavaliers jersey or Wiggins’ new Timberwolves jersey instead of offering up a refund.

Hopefully if you picked up Wiggins’ Cavs jersey, you decided to put it away for safe keeping until you knew if he was going to be traded or not.
