Leonard Fournette not guaranteed starting spot on LSU offense
By Jack Crosby
Heading into the 2014 college football season, which gets underway in just a few weeks, there are a lot of people expecting great things from the top freshman in the country, LSU running back Leonard Fournette. When you’re given the distinction of being the next Adrian Peterson, that will tend to happen.

However, to live up to that, Fournette would have to earn himself a starting spot in the backfield in his first season on campus, something that he has not done as of yet.
With the departure of Jeremy Hill to the NFL, many thought that it would be all but guaranteed that Fournette would be able to come right in and be named the starter, but running backs coach Frank Wilson isn’t so sure about that.
When asked in a radio interview with ESPN Baton Rouge about whether or not Fournette or senior Terrance Magee would be the no. 1 back, Wilson stated that he does not know as of yet.
“I don’t know that right now. We’ll see. We’ll see.” Wilson said.
He then reminded everyone that, despite the media frenzy over the debut of Fournette, he is still just a college freshman.
“Um (laughs), he’s a freshman tailback for us who we see as a freshman tailback for us. He can’t control the media hype. He’s extremely humble and works extremely hard.”
No offense to coach Wilson, who is just doing his job, but we heard something similar to this last year from Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher on Jameis Winston, and well, we all know how that turned out.
