The Minnesota Twins have traded starting pitcher Kevin Correia to the Los Angeles Dodgers for a player to be named or cash. This will send Correia back “home” since he is originally from Southern California.

So what kind of fantasy impact does this have? Not much from the Correia standpoint. He was not owned in 99 percent of leagues. His 5-13 record with a 4.94 ERA is a good reason for that.

The value here lies in who the Twins will rely on to replace Correia. It will be left hander Tom Milone, who was acquired on July 31st from the Athletics for outfielder Sam Fuld. So basically the Twins got him for free. They got Fuld on waivers from Oakland in early May.
Milone was 6-3 with a 3.55 ERA in Oakland this season before they overhauled their rotation. He became expendable when the A’s got Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel from the Cubs. He got pushed even further down the depth chart when the A’s got Jon Lester earlier in the day.
So the Athletics granted Milone’s wish for a trade. That could be good news for the him, the Twins, and fantasy owners alike.
The numbers for Milone are pretty good. Good enough for moderate and deep leaguers to take notice of. In fact, I would even recommend picking him up as a spot starter for standard leaguers tomorrow against the Astros.
Milone allowed three runs or less in 13 of his 16 starts in Oakland. That success is likely to continue in Target Field. It isn’t as spacious as the Coliseum, but it isn’t exactly a hitter park either. Well, unless you’re Joey Gallo.
His 61 strikeouts in 96.1 innings pitched doesn’t fare well for tremendous fantasy value, but he is a sneaky good play against the Astros today.
In his last start on July 4th against the Blue Jays, he pitched six scoreless innings while giving up only four hits and striking out six. He is worth picking up to see if he can build on that.
