Pacers, Suns never talked Roy Hibbert trade
By Bryan Rose
This past weekend rumors surfaced suggesting that the Indiana Pacers, looking to rid themselves of Roy Hibbert, attempted to trade the former Georgetown product to the Phoenix Suns.

While the money didn’t line up as proposed, it was a deal that made some sense on the most basic of forms considering the Phoenix Suns have an abundance of point guard talent on their roster and the Indiana Pacers need one. Add in that the Pacers have reportedly been shopping Hibbert and the Suns don’t have much meat in the paint and a swap for Goran Dragic, as hinted, seemed possible.
However Indiana Pacers team president Larry Bird says there is no truth to the trade rumor and seemed perplexed when questioned about it.
"Like I always say, when people are 2,000 miles away and they start rumors, it’s pretty hard for me to sit here and really talk about them. I’ve never heard that one so maybe you can tell me something I don’t know."
It’s not exactly a secret that the Pacers weren’t thrilled with Roy Hibbert’s recent play and given his potential pending free agent status (he has a $15 million dollar player option at season end), it’s understandable as to why Indiana could be looking to move him.
For what it’s worth, there was no comment from Bird regarding their rumored attempt to trade for Detroit Pistons restricted free agent, Greg Monroe. Though Bird somewhat insinuated that Roy Hibbert’s name isn’t being discussed in trades which seems a little odd given the circumstances.
