Facebook has continued on its rampage to jam its separation of tasks down users throats. While many use the social media platform, very few want to have to download multiple mobile applications to utilize what was once doable from one central place.

Now, there seems to be a workaround for Facebook Messenger.
The workaround actually seems pretty simple, and should allow users accessibility to their messages without having to install the Facebook Messenger app.
On the Facebook app, you can still see a notification informing you of a message, and annoyingly, the small circle indicating a conversation is still present. However, clicking on either option takes you to a screen prompting a download of Facebook Messenger.
There is a relatively easy workaround, and it has been pointed out by The Guardian. Simply select to download and install Facebook Messenger, however, when the download is halfway completed, cancel the download entirely. When you go back to the main Facebook app, your messages should display correctly.
This workaround should be accessible by both Android and iPhone devices.
While the workaround is simple to apply and utilize, it may also stand to reason that it is similarly as simple for Facebook to rework the coding and fix the workaround.
Regardless of if you are able or interested in using the workaround for Facebook Messenger, the social media giant has faced harsh criticism across the board thanks to the new changes. It will be interesting to see how things shake out going forward.
