Ricky Rubio, Minnesota Timberwolves still talking extension; deadline is October 31
With star power forward Kevin Love headed from the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Minnesota Timberwolves are obviously hoping swingman Andrew Wiggins will be the future of the team. However, the trade means point guard Ricky Rubio will now be the face of the Timberwolves. The Timberwolves are hoping Rubio will step up with Love gone and both sides are concerned about Rubio’s contract situation – he will be a restricted free agent in 2015. Rubio is reportedly seeking a max deal while the Timberwolves would like to give him a deal worth $48 million over four years. Getting this situation done the right way will be critical for the Timberwolves.

Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders reports Rubio and the Timberwolves continue to talk extension and have until October 31 to get a deal done.
"The Wolves and Rubio have been talking for most of the summer. As you can imagine Rubio’s camp has some substantial leverage given the Love situation and they are seeking a max deal for Ricky. The Wolves and Rubio have until October 31, as do all of the players and teams listed below, to reach an extension and it seems like the might."
