That’s the word out of New Jersey where Team USA has been working out, but not with Derrick Rose as the Team USA point guard not only missed Monday’s practice but is also a spectator for today’s practice as well. Some were quick to think that Rose being left out of practice was due to injury or a possible setback in his return, though that’s not the case according to Rose himself.
“I’m really happy where I’m at right now, health-wise and recovering very quickly,” Rose said. “I’m just trying to take my time and get rest, because we have a long schedule ahead of us. I’m just trying to get as much rest as possible.”
D-Rose wasn’t the only member of the Team USA family to state that he was healthy as chairman Jerry Colangelo stated there’s nothing wrong with Derrick Rose currently, easing the fear of many.
“Right now, there’s no issue here,” Colangelo said. “If he needs down time, this is a good time for it. He can rest and we kind of move on from there.”
Understandably there’s no reason for Team USA to push Derrick Rose and given the Chicago Bulls influence on the Team USA coaching staff, they’re obviously going to keep an extra close eye on the former league MVP.
As far as Derrick Rose’s participation against the Dominican Republic at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, Derrick Rose says he expects to play though may come off the bench.
