Less than a week after Michigan head coach Brady Hoke said that Csont’e York was still part of the team, York was dismissed from the team.

York’s dismissal stemmed from a July 18th incident where he faces three assault charges from a fight outside an Ann Arbor bar. He punched a man outside of Scorekeepers Bar and Grille, breaking his jaw in three places.
Regarding York’s dismissal, Hoke said, “Representing the University of Michigan is a privilege and, while second chances are certainly deserved, sometimes it’s better for everyone if that happens somewhere else.”
Last week the Ann Arbor police released a video of the incident, showing York punch an off-guard victim in the face. His punch took out a tooth, and the victim was forced to breathe through a rubber tube for a short time afterward.
York fled the scene on foot, and was apprehended by Ann Arbor police three hours later.
The Chandler Park Academy product from Harper Woods, Michigan appeared in one game for the Wolverines last year, but did not record a catch.
Coach Hoke has now dismissed two players from the team during his time there. Last year, he dismissed wide receiver Darryl Stonum after he violated probation after a drunken driving arrest.
York was once again expected to be buried on the WR depth chart for the Wolverines. He was listed as the third stringer behind Freddy Canteen and Jehu Chesson in the “Y” receiver slot.
The good news for the Wolverines is that the loss is at a position where they can afford it.
The arraignment is scheduled for September 8th in Ann Arbor district court.
