The Browns are spinning it like Johnny Manziel lost the #1 QB job because Brian Hoyer outplayed him on the practice field and in preseason, but there are some who suggest Manziel really lost the job for reasons having little to do with his actual football performance.

Cleveland beat writer Mary Kay Cabot thinks it was less the playing and more the partying and other antics, including the now-infamous middle finger, that convinced Mike Pettine and the Browns to go with Hoyer over Johnny Football:
Mary Kay Cabot may be on to something with these tweets about Johnny Manziel, or she may just have it in for Johnny Manziel. Remember, this is the same woman who a couple months ago openly wondered if Manziel might not be an alcoholic.
Another possibility to ponder here: is someone inside the Cleveland organization using Ms. Cabot as a mouthpiece to vent their frustrations about Johnny Manziel’s behavior?
It wouldn’t be the first time that negative sentiments about a player were fed by a team to a reporter who then conveyed them to the public. Whatever the case, we know there is at least one person in the media who isn’t buying the Browns’ official spin on the Hoyer v. Manziel decision.
