Talent hasn’t ever been a question for Andrew Wiggins, though some have questioned his desire. Does he have the alpha-dog personality needed to be a superstar in the NBA?

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

It’s something he lacked during his short tenure at Kansas as his former head coach, Bill Self, went on record and suggested that Andrew Wiggins was too nice. Of course, you don’t have to be mean to achieve stardom in the NBA though you did need somewhat of an assertive personality.

That’s something that has haunted Andrew Wiggins wherever he has played as he has so far seemingly preferred to play the sidekick role. That might be part of the reason the Cleveland Cavaliers are okay with moving the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft as Sam Amico of Fox Sports says the athletic wing is a bit too passive for his taste.

"I think Wiggins will be a very nice NBA defender. I have my doubts about everything else. But I hope he does well for himself. He certainly has highlight-reel potential. I’m just not sold on his toughness, or if he has a “winning edge.” He still looks way too casual to me."

Many pundits have echoed a similar statement, though there’s no doubt that all are rooting for Andrew Wiggins to take that next step and prove himself to be the leader he’ll need to become.

That doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll have to force himself into a Kevin Garnett personality as Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder is more of a follow my example leader and that works just fine. It’s just that Andrew Wiggins will need to be willing to put his team on his back when they need him.
