Minnesota Timberwolves may still acquire Thaddeus Young
By Josh Hill
The Minnesota Timberwolves have a deal in place that will send Kevin Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers for a pair of former No. 1 overall picks, but there was speculation that one of those players could be flipped right away for a veteran forward.

Anthony Bennett was rumored to be on the move from Cleveland to Minnesota and then to Philadelphia but it appears that deal will not be happening. Thaddeus Young would have been the piece the Wolves received in return for Bennett but it looks like the Wolves want to hang onto Bennett for the time being.
According to Tom Moore of Calkins Media, there is still a chance that the Sixers trade Young to the Timberwolves for other players, even if they can’t get Anthony Bennett back in return.
"If the Sixers cannot land Bennett, general manager Sam Hinkie could opt to swap Young for a pair of Minnesota players with expiring deals. Any two of these three guys — Luc Mbah a Moute, Alexey Shved and J.J. Barea — would work under the league’s salary-cap rules. The Sixers could also wind up with a protected first-round pick."
This makes a lot of sense as the Sixers not only are looking to trade Young at whatever cost, at least it seems so, they need to take on salary to get above the minimum cap figure and that’s what this trade could help them do. Minnesota wants to dump the bad salary of J.J. Barea and if they can get Thaddeus Young for it, then that’s something that they won’t likely be turning down.
