“With Zac’s injury we have just three healthy running backs to open the season,” head coach Dabo Sweeny said, via ClemsonTigers.com. “You can’t go through a season with just three backs, so Adam Choice is going to play this year. Adam has had a great camp. He has a lot of natural ability and we have been very impressed with his ability to pick up the offense. We will get him ready and he will have an impact at some point this year.”
The freshman will have an impact — it’s just a matter of how soon. The four-star recruit will compete with senior D.J. Howard, junior C.J. Davidson and freshman Wayne Gallman. The pecking order is expected to be arranged by age, however, it sounds like Choice has as good a chance as any to vulture carries from the upperclassmen.
After graduating Sammy Watkins, Tajh Boyd and the injury to Brooks, there is plenty of opportunity for a role on offense.
The team’s website writes about Choice:
"Choice is a true freshman from Thomasville, Ga., and Thomas County Central High School. He was ranked among the top 125 players in the nation by Rivals.com last year. An option quarterback for much of his high school career, Choice finished as the school’s all-time leading rusher with 5,095 yards."
