Tesla, the car company that produces popular electric vehicles, is reportedly working on an update that will allow owners to start and unlock their car with an iPhone.

The feature will allegedly be included in the newest Tesla Model S’ latest operating system update.

The update was found by Electreck, which claims that the Tesla mobile app update includes a new notification function in addition to the ability to start your car.

Tesla already did away with the need for gas in order to have a high-quality car. Now, it appears as though the need for car keys is going the way of the gas pump.

This wouldn’t be the first time that the ability to unlock and start your vehicle would be available on an iPhone. Apps like Viper and DroneMobile already allow the starting of your car via a smartphone. However, this does appear to be the first time that users would be able to start and drive the car without the need for keys.
