Francis Carmont and Thales Leites squared off in a featured middleweight bout UFC Fight Night 49 at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Saturday night.

Carmont (22-9) entered the bout on a two-fight losing streak, while Leites (23-4) has been red-hot as of late with a six-fight winning streak to his credit heading into UFC Fight Night 49.
With a big win over Carmont, Leites could find himself fighting a top-tier opponent in his next bout.

Round 1: Leites went for an early takedown, but Carmont was able to remain on his feet. Leites was tripped up after a low leg kick from Carmont, but he bounced right back up to his feet. Carmont slipped a punch from Leites and ducked down for a takedown, but Leites showed off good balance and stayed on his feet. Leites reversed position and put Carmont’s back against the cage. Leites was trying hard to get the fight to the mat, but Carmont was too strong. Leites unleashed a big combination after Carmont whiffed on a shot, but he didn’t land anything significant.
Round 2: Leites came out aggressive in the second round and unleashed a vicious flurry on Carmont. Carmont got caught with a shot and continued to take damage before crumbling to the mat. The beginning of the end for Carmont came after a big right hand from Leites. It was a stunning and unexpected ending to the fight.
