Being that is the third preseason game, most teams are going through their “dress rehearsals,” meaning they will play their starters through the first and perhaps even into the third quarter.
The Vikings made three first round picks in the 2013 NFL Draft and used one of them on wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson, hoping that he could be the explosive play maker they need after dealing Percy Harvin to the Seattle Seahawks. Patterson showed off his big play ability as a rookie but needs to be a more consistent receiver.
During the first quarter of Saturday night’s game, Vikings’ quarterback Matt Cassel found Patterson for a 53-yard touchdown.
