Chandler Parsons wants to be Dallas Mavericks franchise player
By Bryan Rose
When you think of the Dallas Mavericks, you think of Dirk Nowitzki. But the veteran forward is in the midst of a decline and will eventually no longer be the face of the Mavericks organization.

No worries though because Chandler Parsons, who the Mavericks signed this offseason, is ready to step up and be the organization’s next franchise star. That’s the word from owner Mark Cuban who says Parsons informed him that he wants to be a building block for the organization.
“You know, what [Parsons] said to me is that he wants to come in and have a phenomenal season and prove to everybody that he’s worth every penny,” Cuban told 105.3 FM The Fan last week (via Mavs.com). “He wants to be a cornerstone for the Dallas Mavericks. That’s where his head’s at.”
So can he do it? That remains to be seen.
There’s no doubt that Chandler Parsons is a very talented player who would likely emerge as an All-Star assuming he’s made to be a focal point of an offense. But is he a franchise player? That might be stretching it. That said, Chandler Parsons is certainly good enough to be considered a second or third wheel type player who can be a sidekick to a franchise talent.
It’s doubtful he’ll ever be viewed as a true cornerstone player (there are very few of those) though being in the All-Star tier right below isn’t out of the question assuming he continues to improve.
Learning from Dirk Nowitzki will also be a significant plus to expedite the process.
