Diggs burst onto the scene as a freshman two years ago as a highly-regarded recruit with 54 receptions for 848 yards and six touchdowns and returned two kicks for scores as one of the top freshmen in the nation.
The 6-1, 192-pound Diggs missed the final six games of last year with a broken leg suffered against Wake Forest but had produced 34 receptions for 587 yards and three touchdowns in seven games. Despite the production from Diggs, Maryland head coach Randy Edsall says Diggs has yet to scratch the surface.
"“I still think he can be as good as he wants to be,” Edsall tells The Baltimore Sun. “Everybody’s putting all of this on him, but he hasn’t even come close to scratching the surface of how good he can be if he wants to go out there each and every day and work hard and spend the time in the film room and prepare. If he does that, he can be outstanding.”"
With the return of quarterback C.J. Brown and a fully healthy Diggs on the perimeter and flashing his trademark speed and game-breaking abilities, Maryland could adapt fairly well in the Big Ten, although they face a daunting schedule.
Edsall also said the sky is the limit for Diggs who could be playing his final season in college this year if he has the complete season Edsall is looking for and declare for the NFL Draft.
