Andrew Wiggins has had an interesting two months. In June, he was the number one overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. In July, one LeBron James announced his return to Cleveland, meaning Wiggins’ new teammate would be the most famous basketball player on the planet.

Then came the rumors. Kevin Love has wanted out of Minnesota for the better part of a year. Finally, Cleveland had the pieces to land LeBron a true superstar to play on the team with him, as opposed to his first stint in Cleveland.
The only problem was that the key piece in any deal to get love would involve Wiggins. It was a worst-kept secret in the NBA that Love was headed to Cleveland for most of the month of August. It was all over but the crying.
Along with Wiggins, the Wolves also get former number 1 pick Anthony Bennett and Thaddeus Young. The only problem is the Timberwolves had to give up a 2015 first rounder for Young, which will likely be a lottery pick.
Now Wiggins gets sent to the NBA’s version of purgatory. The Timberwolves have not sniffed the playoffs since 2004, and seem to have been rebuilding for most of the last eight years. They thought they had somtething to build around with Love. Now the focus turns to the 19 year old Wiggins.
The Timberwolves tweeted pictures of their new prize in a Timberwolves uniform:
Wiggins is now the hope of the franchise. The fans can’t wait so see him on the court with Ricky Rubio come October.
