The Minnesota Timberwolves have retooled their roster in the wake of the Kevin Love trade and that means the fat is going to continue to be trimmed off the roster.

More from Minnesota Timberwolves

J.J. Barea seems to be the next name to go for the Wovles as he’s been someone Minnesota has been looking to get rid of for a while now but haven’t yet secured a place to send him. According to Timberwolves beat writer Jerry Zgoda, the Wolves tried to trade J.J. Barea but were unable to which means a buyout is likely to be the next option.

"They’ll try to trade him — they tried to get Sixers to take him with no luck — but if that doesn’t happen, they’ll buy him out, I’d think"

Moving Barea is a lot easier said than done as the team was unable to make him a part of the Kevin Love deal and will now likely buy him out to get rid of him. Barea never panned out the way the Wolves hoped he might and now that the team has a shooting guard in Andrew Wiggins, the need to run dual point guards is obsolete in Minnesota.
