10. Minnesota Vikings: Teddy Bridgewater

I’m not surprised the Vikings chose to start Matt Cassel for the season opener. Teddy Bridgewater probably isn’t ready to take over yet, but what’s the wait? Minnesota has an improved defense and Adrian Peterson to carry most of the offensive load.

At best, Cassel is a game manager. Bridgewater is the future of the franchise, so there’s no rush to feed him to the dogs. I do anticipate Bridgewater will start a few games this season, though, because I don’t see how Cassel will last the whole season. For Bridgewater, he should take the benching in stride. Cassel isn’t going to blow away the competition, and the Viking fans are incredibly receptive to new quarterbacks. They stuck with Christian Ponder, Joe Webb, and countless others forever. Bridgewater will also be embraced into the Viking family, if he hasn’t already.

Hopefully, Bridgewater will be the quarterback of Minnesota’s dreams, the one they’ve been searching for basically since the days of Daunte Culpepper and Randy Moss.

The Minnesota quarterback situation would a tad higher on the list, but since the Vikings are playing in an outdoor stadium in the NFC North (until their new stadium is finished), it is going to be cold, cold, cold in Green Bay, Chicago, and now several home games in Minnesota. If I was Bridgewater, I’d be looking for a trade to the Texans. Not really, but at least Texas is warm.
