Ricky Rubio Rumors: No chance he signs for less than the max
By Josh Hill
The Minnesota Timberwolves are in a tough spot with Ricky Rubio as he’s asking for a max contract many believe he doesn’t deserve. But with Andrew Wiggins already looking to be the future face of the franchise, Rubio sees his window to secure a max deal closing and wants to get something done.

Rubio is asking for the max but the Wolves don’t value him at that right now, as a $15 million contract isn’t where Rubio is at in terms of his level of play. But the question is, would the Wolves be wise to invest in Rubio or would giving him the max be a mistake?
According to Steve Kyler from Basketball Insiders, there is no chance Rubio takes anything less than the max unless he’s forced to in restricted free agency.
"There is no chance that Rubio or his agents are going to budge off the max number, even if Rubio isn’t worth that kind of money on the court. Rubio is going to demand max money because he has to be in Minnesota for the bulk of his career."
The only way Rubio is likely to take less than the max is if that’s the best offer he gets in restricted free agency. it’s a true standoff for the Wolves and Rubio as the time is now for Rubio to cash in and get as much money as he can. The team has Andrew Wiggins already being groomed as the face of the franchise, which means if Rubio wants a max deal he’s either going to have to get one now or play his way into one this season.
