No, he’s never going to live up to his hype as a former No. 2 overall pick and no, he isn’t much on the defensive side of the ball. But the former Kansas State product has no trouble putting the ball through the net and that’s exactly what you look for in a scorer off the bench.
Given that, Michael Beasley seemed destined to find a home this offseason though so far, he’s been shutout.
The Miami Heat have already given his number away and while they haven’t completely shut the door on bringing him back, it seems as if his time in South Beach is over. In fact, the market for Michael Beasley is relatively small according to Steve Kyler.
With the Heat presumably out of the picture, the Indiana Pacers and Los Angeles Lakers are the only other organization’s to show interest in signing the small forward. Of course, the Pacers are nearly at the luxury tax threshold so it’s questionable if they’d have the funds Beasley is looking for. As for the Lakers, they’ve worked Beasley out and have been impressed with the results. However, they’re said to only be offering a small salary and the forward is understandably looking for something a bit more financially secure. Getting that however, has been a problem.
