Apple dropped the bomb the technology world was waiting for today.  Invites have been sent out for the event on September 9, and it has long been expected to be the big iPhone event of the year.  On the invitation, it reads, “Wish we could say more.”

The “exclusive event” will be held September 9 at 10am pacific time from the Flint Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino, California.  The venue is the same place that Apple debuted the Macintosh computer in 1984, 30 years ago.  Considering the Mac was a groundbreaking product, the heavily rumored iWatch could also be making its appearance.

The iPhone 6 is expected to be launched in two sizes, a 4.7-inch model and a larger version at 5.5 inches, possibly called the iPhone 6L.

More from Technology

Apple could decide to have a slightly higher price tag for the iPhone 6 considering the screen will be sapphire, instead of the typical glass screen.  The same technology is used in many luxury watches, most notably Movado, and is much more scratch resistant.

With all of the new information regarding iOS 8 as well as the rumored introduction of the reversible lightning cord included with the iPhone 6, there is plenty to get excited about with the new phone.

Although Apple is currently believed to be working on a significantly larger version of the iPad, the new introduction of the next tablet is not expected to be introduced until an iPad specific event in October.

September 9 is just around the corner, stay tuned for the latest breaking information, the wait is almost over!
