It creates nothing but headache’s for the said franchises considering roster moves are often leaked far earlier than they used to be and players continually find themselves with a foot in their mouth while on social media. That’s why many franchises have attempted to have their talent steer clear of being too active/personal on social media, but the Philadelphia 76ers seem to be taking a different approach with rookie Joel Embiid.
Currently rehabbing a stress fracture, Embiid has become notorious online for some of his unique views and hilarious endeavor’s which include an extremely odd courting of singer Rihanna and calling Nicki Minaj a ‘rachet’.
The Philadelphia 76ers are well aware of Joel Embiid’s love of social media but shockingly aren’t overly concerned. Yes, they say they’re keeping watch, but general manager Sam Hinke is a fan of what Embiid is doing and jokingly suggested he’d like him to take over his Twitter account in effort to gain more followers.
“I told him I want him to take over my Twitter,” Hinkie playfully suggested to reporters regarding Joel Embiid’s Twitter feed. “I need to get my follower count up.”
Hinke is aware that Embiid has nearly crossed the line at times, though as long as he stays on the right side of the tracks they don’t have many issues with his account.
“Sometimes he’ll touch the stove and get burned but he’ll find his way,” Hinkie said regarding Embiid’s Twitter personality.
The Philadelphia 76ers did say they will watch what Joel Embiid says a little more closely once the season begins.
