Carolina Panthers rumors: Stephen Hill a potential target?
By Bryan Rose
For much of the offseason, the Carolina Panthers were the laughing stock of the NFL. Not because they lacked talent or weren’t a force on the defensive side of the ball, but because their wide receiver depth chart looked more woeful than a Division II college.

Thankfully the Carolina Panthers did make some additions and Cam Newton’s weapons aren’t nearly as laughable as before. Still, there is room for improvement and it’s the hope of Stephen Hill’s agent that the recently released wide receiver will be claimed off waivers by the Panthers.
Hill, who was expected by many to start opposite of Eric Decker this season with the New York Jets was one of the more shocking Saturday releases and multiple teams are expected to put in a waiver claim on the talented, though inconsistent receiver.
Adding Stephen Hill would give the Carolina Panthers another promising wide receiver, though his issue with consistency is unlikely to change overnight and he’d be a bit of a project for the organization. However, if the team feels he has enough talent, there’s not a ton of risk in making the addition.
Of course, Hill joining the Panthers would likely place him atop the depth chart at the position which is likely why Hill’s agent is hoping Carolina makes such a move.
A second-round pick in 2012, Hill had 24 receptions in 2013 and one touchdown and limited playing time.
