The New York Jets released former second-round pick Stephen Hill just two years into his NFL career, and his agent seems to think the Browns could make a claim to bolster their wide receiving corp.
“I would think the Browns would put in a claim,” Hill’s agent Alan Herman said, via USA Today Sports. “(Coach Mike) Pettine knows him and they need receivers and Stephen can stretch the field.”
Cleveland will be without star wide receiver Josh Gordon for the entire season after the NFL upheld his yearlong suspension, so Hill could provide the team with a tall wide receiver with the speed to stretch opposing defenses thin.
The Browns will just have to determine whether or not they believe Hill improved the weakest part of his game which is actually catching the ball.
