The Cleveland Browns are moving into a new era with Johnny Manziel on the roster and while he won’t be starting, his presence has cost another quarterback his job on the roster.

Rex Grossman was signed for — well, no one really knows. But he was signed not that long ago and is already out of a job. According to Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk, the Browns have released Grossman as part of their final cuts this summer.
Grossman being cut isn’t really all that surprising as he’s not a guy that anyone is going to be looking at as a starter and clearly he’s not even backup material. The Browns are likely going to start Johnny Manziel this season and if Brian Hoyer plays well they’re going to have a tough enough time justifying Manziel playing, let alone Grossman.
He’ll likely find work somewhere but the bottom line is that it won’t be in Cleveland and it likey won’t be anything more than a midseason injury replacement on a roster somewhere.
