When the Phoenix Suns signed Isaiah Thomas this offseason, it was a shock to many. Not because Thomas isn’t talented, but rather the Suns appeared set in their backcourt.

Yes, Eric Bledsoe was an unrestricted free agent but with Goran Dragic handling the point guard duties, did the Phoenix Suns really need to invest in another guard?

That answer is apparently yes as Eric Bledsoe has played hardball during free agency, still void of any contract, though understandably the signing of Isaiah Thomas likely has played a role in that. But if Eric Bledsoe was to re-sign on a long-term deal, what does that mean for Goran Dragic? Will the Suns simply run with the three guard lineup?

It’s possible, but so is a trade according to Hoops Rumors who thinks Gordan Dragic could be the odd-man out if Eric Bledsoe returns on a long-term deal.

"Goran Dragic can hit free agency next summer, too, so if the Suns wind up opening their wallets for Eric Bledsoe on a long-term deal, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Dragic on the block, either."

Obviously the Phoenix Suns have no reason to trade Dragic if they aren’t able to re-sign Bledsoe (or he signs a one-year qualifying offer), though it’s obvious the team will have a bit of a log jam if all three remain on the roster.

Earlier this offseason it was alleged that the Indiana Pacers attempted to acquire Dragic in a trade for center Roy Hibbert, however the Phoenix Suns were said to be uninterested in such a move.
