While the Cleveland Cavaliers have Brendan Haywood and his seven-foot frame on their roster, his non-guaranteed $10 million dollar contract is far more valuable than his on-court ability.

Taking that into consideration, the Cavs likely understand that at some point this year Haywood will no longer be part of their team and they’ll need to replace him in the middle. But with who? That has been a question surrounding the franchise since LeBron James decided to return and it appears we still don’t have an answer.
However with the season fast approaching, Sam Amico of Fox Sports states that the Cleveland Cavaliers will bring a ‘rim protector’ in before the season, he just doesn’t know who.
"They (Cleveland) will land a rim protector before the season. Not sure who, and it might not happen until well into training camp. But they’re determined to find someone. I keep touting Jan Vesely, but I haven’t heard of a Cavs interest in him yet."
It’s not known if the addition will come out of free agency or via a trade, but given the Cavaliers only have a minimum level contract to offer you’d assume a trade would be more likely.
One possibility is that the Cavaliers wait until training camp comes to an end and attempt to snag a player who couldn’t secure a roster spot with another team, though understandably the Cavs would likely prefer to have a veteran clogging up the lane.
With well over a month until training camp comes to an end the Cleveland Cavaliers have plenty of time to make an addition.
