Much has been made over the current contractual impasse between the Detroit Pistons and power forward, Greg Monroe.

More from Detroit Pistons

As one of the premier young big men in the league, Monroe figured to be an easy signing coming into restricted free agency since the market was likely to set itself and the Detroit Pistons had the right to match any contract he was offered. Only problem? He was never given a contract offer by those interested because Monroe, unhappy with things in Detroit, knew the Pistons would match any contract he received.

But at least he has a contract offer on the table from the Detroit Pistons, right? Well, maybe not.

According to Fox Sports‘ Sam Amico, there’s no certainty that Mornoe has even been offered a contract from his current team.

"Obviously some contention there between Monroe and Pistons, but I’m not sure the Pistons have even made him real offer. I think it’ll be worked out before the season, but it’s the most interesting non-signing I’ve witnessed."

It’s been previously stated that the Pistons did allegedly talk money with Monroe’s agent though the confirmation of an actual offer has been wish-washy.

For what it’s worth, there were rumors that Greg Monroe turned down a contract from the Pistons that would have paid him over $12 million dollars annually, though the former Georgetown product said he was never given such an offer.

Greg Monroe has until October 1st to sign a one-year qualifying offer with the Pistons which would allow him to become an unrestricted free agent at season end, assuming he doesn’t sign a long-term deal or is traded beforehand.
