Might that be Boston Celtics point guard, Rajon Rondo? It’s been said the Lakers have interest in trading for the former All-Star though do they have the pieces needed to make such a deal?
With few assets at the Lakers disposal it seems presumable that rookie power forward Julius Randle would be a starting point in trade negotiations for the Boston Celtics, though they’d understandably need more than just the former Kentucky forward. Unfortunately for the Lakers, they don’t have much else to offer and it appears doubtful that Los Angeles would be a serious suitor to trade for Rajon Rondo.
While Randle would be a very good starting point in trade talks the Los Angeles Lakers would need to include at minimum a No. 1 draft pick and likely some type of additional asset to get a sniff. Even then it seems likely another team with more established youth could beat out such an offer, making the likelihood of the Los Angeles Lakers acquiring Rajon Rondo in a trade very small.
If the Lakers are interested in bringing the point guard aboard, they may be better served doing so in free agency.
