When the St. Louis Rams drafted Michael Sam, all of his hard work had finally paid off. No, he wasn’t assured of a roster spot, but at least he was given the opportunity to win a spot on the final 53-man roster.

Under normal circumstances Sam played well enough to do so, however the St. Louis Rams employ a stout defense and simply didn’t have room for the former Missouri star. Enter the Dallas Cowboys who in need of warm bodies on defense decided to give Michael Sam another chance.
It’s a perfect situation for the talented defender as Dallas’ lack of depth could very well allow Sam to make his way off the practice squad and onto the game-day roster.
For what it’s worth, Michael Sam couldn’t be happier the Dallas Cowboys gave him a chance suggesting playing for his favorite childhood franchise is a dream come true.
As a kid growing up in Texas I always loved the Dallas Cowboys, so to join this incredible organization is really a dream come true. (1/3)

Getting drafted is a special moment in itself but to come home and play for the franchise you idolized as a child? Talk about a perfect scenario, especially given the very real chance that Sam could crack the roster.
