Minnesota Twins not likely to sign Melky Cabrerea
By Josh Hill
The Minnesota Twins are a ballclub that likes to play small ball and do it on a budget, but that style of play hasn’t worked for them in years.

After being the whipping team of the New York Yankees for mostly all of the 2000s, the Twins have been down in the dumps the last few years and haven’t been to the postseason in ages. But they’ve tried to change that with some free agent signings in recent years and this offseason could see them go after someone like Melky Cabrera.
According to MLB scribe Steve Adams, though it’s not likely that the Twins go after Melky Cabrera to replace the hole left by trading Josh Willingham, and it may be asking too much to see them signing Cuban defector Yasmany Tomas.
"Melky doesn’t strike me as their type of player, and I can’t see them paying top dollar for Tomas like that."
Cabrera is an interesting name to consider for the Twins as he’s not a small ball guy but he fits their love of signing aging veteran sluggers. They took a chance on Kendrys Morales this year and it failed, and their history of bringing in veteran sluggers is storied and checkered.
Still, there could be some movement here as there’s no saying Cabrera will be flooded with offers and the Twins aren’t the sour option they used to be.
