Although it’s unknown if the Boston Celtics will attempt to trade Rajon Rondo this season, it appears they’ve began to prepare for life without their All-Star point guard.

Such was evident when the team drafted Marcus Smart with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. Yes, Smart does come with a wart or two (especially regarding his shooting ability) but the former Oklahoma State guard is immensely talented and impressed during the draft combine.
Might the Boston Celtics already have their next franchise star waiting in the wings?
It certainly sounds like that, at least if you listen to an unnamed grouping of scouts who say Marcus Smart has ‘all the tools’ needed for success at the NBA level.
Not only does Marcus Smart have an arsenal of tools at his disposal, the guard also plays at a high-level no matter the score. He’s a player that will never take a play off and that’s something a coaching staff admires and it also can rub off on teammates.
The game of Marcus Smart has been compared to that of former NBA Rookie of the Year award winner Tyreke Evans of the New Orleans Pelicans, especially given their unique size and the fact both have struggled with their shot. That said, if Smart can ever harness his ability to knock down a jumper, the sky is the limit for the Boston Celtics talent.
