Houston Rockets rumors: May attempt to trade Jason Terry

It’s been said that the Houston Rockets acquired Jason Terry in a trade with the Sacramento Kings for his ‘championship experience‘.

While that’s a valid suggestion, that may not be the only reason they acquired the veteran guard.
After losing Jeremy Lin (trade) and Chandler Parsons (free agency) this offseason the depth of the Rockets is of concern and it’s possible the expiring contract of Jason Terry could be used in a trade scenario down the road.
That’s the word from the Houston Chronicle’s Jonathan Feigen who believes Terry’s acquisition could play a big role come the trade deadline.
"As with the Houston Rockets deals when they were building a team expected to be in the Western Conference playoffs, this is a trade with a potential next trade in mind.…The Rockets had few contracts in between the James Harden and Dwight Howard max deals and the role player contracts, making most deals difficult, especially if they come upon a trade they don’t consider worth spending their trade exception from the Jeremy Lin deal."
Feigen goes on to suggest the deal wasn’t made with the sole intention of trading Terry as the team does need his bench scoring. That said, his contract could prove to be beneficial in a trade scenario which adds to why the Houston Rockets pulled the trigger.
General manager Daryl Morey also has two second-round draft picks to play with which could be added to sweeten a potential trade for Terry’s contract, as noted by Feigen.
