Just when you though the burning inferno that is Johnny Manziel‘s competence level couldn’t handle flames any higher, he surprises you once again. Manziel, the backup quarterback to Brian Hoyer (yes that Brian Hoyer), has now decided to file for the trademark “Johnny Cleveland”

Manziel completed his first preseason at mere percentage points above a 50% completion percentage, he threw for 296 yards, two touchdowns, and was overwhelmingly mediocre. While his success at Texas A&M has been noted, in the NFL, nothing on the field has been more impressive than his tactics off of it.
While ESPN is reporting Johnny Football has now filed for the trademark of “Johnny Cleveland,” we can only wonder what this means. Of course subjectively speaking, let’s assume he flames out in Ohio. Is Manziel prepared to trademark every city he brings his circus too?
At this point, he has shown no reason for anyone to believe he is an NFL level quarterback. While the Browns do a great job of destroying their franchise on their own accord, they now have a child for a backup quarterback that seems poised to bring the mockery to a whole new level.
Will Manziel start games from the Browns this year? Of course he will, it’s the Browns and he’s playing behind Brian Hoyer. Will he ever grasp the understanding that he has yet to prove anything, and by putting a target on his back he is not doing himself any favors? Likely not.
Burn on Johnny, burn on…
