Considering his great production a season ago and the fact the Browns’ other top pass-catcher Josh Gordon is suspended for the season, it should come as no surprise that the Browns view Cameron as the focal point of their offense.
From Scott Petrak of the Chronicle-Telgram:
"“You want that. You want more targets,” Cameron said.He isn’t shy — as evidenced by his cameo in the season premiere of “The League” on Wednesday night — and loves the idea of being the focal point of the passing attack.“That would be awesome,” he said. “That’s what any guy wants and if that can happen, that would be great. But whatever to make the team win, to make us better, that’s all I really care about right now.”"
It will certainly be interesting to see how Cameron will fare will all the extra attention he’ll receive this year.
As Cameron talks about in Petrak’s piece, he was an under-the-radar player last year. Not anymore. Defenses will focus on stopping Cameron this year and that could even result in cornerbacks covering him.
Still, coming off such an effective season, Cameron is confident and maintained that he’ll have success regardless of who is covering him.
"“The confidence I have, it doesn’t really matter who they put in front of you, you’ve got to make the play,” he said. “It can be a corner, linebacker, safety, just go make the play.”"
The Browns drafted Cameron with the No. 102 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
