Hoyer is going to be getting almost all of the snaps on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers but there’s still a chance that Manziel plays. According to Jay Glazer from Fox Sports and Ian Rapoport from NFL Network, Manziel indeed has a special package and he may see action on Sunday.
Of course the ‘special package’ may just be some dumbed down plays drawn in crayon so Manziel can understand an NFL playbook.
Manziel playing against the Steelers was something we all expected would happen, but it’s still no lock to happen. Cleveland has stated that they aren’t going to make Manziel a gimmick quarterback, but giving him a special package does exactly that.
It’s possible he doesn’t play a single snap against the Steelers, but at the end of the day Pittsburgh had to gameplan for two quarterbacks which is a distraction Cleveland doesn’t mind having.
