Colts’ Dwayne Allen gets loose for long touchdown (GIF)

Indianapolis Colts’ tight end Dwayne Allen was finally able to return to the football field on Sunday night after a long road back over the last year or so. The 2013 season seemed to offer so much promise for the big tight end before he suffered a season-ending hip injury last September against the Oakland Raiders.

Allen’s return should give quarterback Andrew Luck another weapon and make the Colts’ offense more challenging for opposing defenses. As for Allen, he is just happy to be back on the football field.
“It means everything,” Allen told the Indianapolis Herald Bulletin. “I’ve had a long road to recovery. Sitting out last season was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.”
Being on the field had to be a reward in itself for Allen. One can only imagine, then, what a good feeling it was when Allen caught this pass and then got loose down the sidelines for a 41-yard touchdown.
This touchdown was just one of a number of dramatic moments as the Colts mounted a comeback from down 24-0 to make it an exciting affair at Sports Authority Field on Sunday night.
