Although the New York Knicks attempted to trade veteran point guard Pablo Prigioni to the Utah Jazz earlier this offseason, such a move was likely the result of the Knicks attempting to clear money to re-sign Carmelo Anthony.

Now with Anthony signed long-term and the Knicks not needing immediate funds, might the team hold on to Prigioni moving forward?
That’s the belief of the Italian-born point guard as he believes he’ll remain with the franchise this season despite the attempted mid-Summer trade.
Pablo Prigioni says he expects, and hopes, to be back with the New York Knicks despite trade rumours over the summer.

With a small salary, Prigioni won’t bring much of a return in a trade and he’d likely need to be an added piece in a bigger deal. That in itself makes a move difficult. Add in his age (currently 36 years old) and those interested in his services are likely few and far between.
The New York Knicks aren’t in desperate need of keeping Pablo Prigioni as he’s nothing more than a rotational bench player, though given the circumstances he’s likely more valuable to them on their roster than off.
How he fits with the new triangle offense which the Knicks plan to implement this season is unknown, though given his solid passing ability, the transition shouldn’t be difficult. Granted, it may hurt one of his stronger attributes – the ability to run a fast break – but Prigioni should still be an effective player assuming he remains on the New York Knicks roster.
