Tennessee Titans (+3) over Kansas City Chiefs

In 2013, the Chiefs went 11-5 and the Titans went 7-9. On paper, the Chiefs should be giving the Titans much more than 3 points, especially in the friendly confines of Arrowhead Stadium. However, the Titans have sneakily improved in advance of this season, while Kansas City is undeniably worse than the group that overachieved on their way to double-digit wins.

The biggest key to this game is likely Tennessee QB Jake Locker, who was quite effective when healthy in 2013, and with a highly underrated trio of wide receivers (Kendall Wright, Justin Hunter, Nate Washington), the Titans could put up points against a Chiefs secondary that looks better on paper than it actually is. On the other side of the ball, the Chiefs are without their best wide receiver in Dwayne Bowe (suspension), and if the Titans can contain Jamaal Charles (not an easy task, mind you), there isn’t much that Alex Smith and company can do.

I’m on the Titans bandwagon for the season, and if there is money to be made in 2014, going against Kansas City probably isn’t a bad way to start.
