The Kansas City Chiefs won’t have their electrifying rookie punt returner on Sunday, as De’Anthony Thomas is inactive against the Tennessee Titans at Arrowhead Stadium because of a hamstring injury,
Thomas was listed as doubtful on Friday’s injury report.
Hammond, who is the Chiefs’ primary kickoff returner, will do double duty on the punt return team this week.

Thomas had an 80-yard touchdown return against the Cincinnati Bengals during the preseason. In limited time with the offense, he rushed for 17 yards on three carries and caught four passes for 15 yards.

The Titans will be playing their first regular-season game under new coach Ken Whisenhunt, who coached the Arizona Cardinals from 2007-12 before he was fired. He spent last season as offensive coordinator for the San Diego Chargers.
