The Detroit Lions and New York Giants had to wait all weekend to start their regular season but they finally kicked things off on Monday night.

Many feel the New York Giants are in for a long year while the Lions’ offensive fire-power could help them return to the playoffs (they reached the postseason in 2013 but did not make it last season).
So far, those pundits look correct.
Calvin Johnson got the scoring going early when Matt Stafford connected with him on a 67-yard touchdown pass.
After the Lions stopped the Giants, Stafford again found Johnson, this time on a diving 16-yard reception. That’s three catches for 98 yards thus far.
