Neither the Dallas Mavericks nor the Los Angeles Clippers need additional reinforcements, but it sounds likely one will be on the receiving end in the near future.

Apparently looking to add rotational depth, both Dallas and Los Angeles have shown interest in free agent forward Charlie Villanueva and it’s expected the veteran will sign with one of the two teams in the coming days.
That’s the word from Shams Charania who believes Villanueva will be signed to a league minimum contract.
While Charlie Villanueva isn’t overly talented by any stretch, he has proven himself to be a very solid contributor off the bench. That’s a role he’s played for the Detroit Pistons for the past three seasons (five overall in Motown). Before that, the former UConn star played for both the Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors though is no longer the player who once averaged 16 points per game in 2008-2009.
That said, Charlie Villanueva fits everything you seek out of a back-end bench player. He can score (and at times in bunches) and doesn’t throw a stink if he doesn’t get significant floor time. Add in his veteran presence and it’s understandable as to why both the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers are open to signing him.
Villanueva only played in 20 games for the Detroit Pistons last year due to injury (and a youth movement), averaging just under 5 points in 8 minutes per contest.
