The New York Giants and Detroit Lions are preparing for kickoff of the first Monday Night Football telecast of the regular season, but of course they won’t be playing with a complement of their roster and have released their list of inactives.

More from Detroit Lions

As expected, the Giants first round pick, Odell Beckham Jr, is inactive for the opener after missing the entire preseason after injuring his hamstring in late July. His disappointing rookie season could get underway in the coming weeks as he recovers from the nagging injury.

In addition to Beckham the Giants are without James Brewer, Jay Bromley, Charles Brown, Markus Kuhn, Geoff Schwartz, Adam Snyder and Kerry Wynn.

The good news for the Giants is they will have linebacker Jon Beason in the starting lineup after questions arose about his availability earlier on Monday. Brandon Mosley is also active for the Monday nighter.

Ryan Broyles is the most notable of the inactive players for the Lions tonight as the former Oklahoma Sooners receiver has yet to find his role in the Lions offense after dealing with various injuries since entering the league after a torn ACL in his final season in Norman.

Joining Broyles on the inactive list are safety’s Don Carey and James Ihedigbo, tackle Cornelius Lucas, quarterback Kellen Moore, receiver Kevin Ogletree and defensive end Larry Webster.

Defensive end Caraun Webster will be active for the game tonight for the first game of the James Caldwell era.

The Lions and Giants are on ESPN with the game starting at 6 p.m.
