The New York Giants didn’t get off to the kind of started they wanted in their opener against the Detroit Lions Monday night.

More from Detroit Lions

While quarterback Eli Manning and the Giants’ new-look offense was sputtering, the Detroit Lions were scoring with ease.

First, Matt Stafford found Calvin Johnson for a wide-open 76-yard touchdown pass. Then, Stafford connected with Megatron again, this time from 16 yards out on a diving catch in the end zone.

Late in the first quarter, the Giants got the ball back and finally made something happen. They marched 79 yards in 13 plays and on fourth down, Manning found tight end Larry Donnell on a one-yard touchdown pass.
