Losing a valuable player in the first game of the year is obviously every team’s nightmare.

More from Detroit Lions

During the first quarter of their season-opening game against the Detroit Lions on Monday night, the Giants lost star pass rusher Jason Pierre-Paul. As Pierre-Paul closed in on a sack of Lions’ quarterback Matt Stafford, Pierre-Paul instead ran into his own teammate and Stafford wound up getting the pass away.

Pierre-Paul was injured during the first quarter and taken off of the field.

The Giants don’t have to fret – Pierre-Paul returned to the game in the second quarter and immediately made an impact, making a big tackle in the run game.

You can watch Pierre-Paul crash into his teammate below.
