Might Marc Gasol follow in the footsteps of older brother Pau Gasol and leave the Memphis Grizzlies for the Los Angeles Lakers?

More from Los Angeles Lakers

A restricted free agent at season end, such a move is possible though looks to be rather unlikely.

Unlike Pau, who was traded by the Grizzlies to the Lakers, Marc Gasol would be leaving in free agency and it’s going to take a significant offer to pry him away from Music City. The Grizzlies will have the right to match any offer Gasol receives in free agency so the Lakers would need to pony up the cash for such to be feasible.

It would also require Marc Gasol to have interest in playing for the Los Angeles Lakers franchise which at this time, he apparently lacks.

According to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders, the younger Gasol isn’t looking to sign in Hollywood (or potentially any other place) at the current time.

Marc Gasol doesn’t appear to be the type of player who desires to play in the bright lights of a New York, Chicago or Los Angeles. That said, he’s still going to want to get paid and both the Knicks and Lakers should have significant cash to throw at the young center.

Needless to say, although Marc Gasol may not currently be looking at teams in free agency, the Memphis Grizzlies are going to have a challenge keeping him away from the opposition.
